  • ISM section 10: procedures so the ship is maintained to the rules and company requirements: inspect at intervals, report non-conformities with cause, correct, record (§10.2).
  • Critical equipment (§10.3): equipment whose sudden failure is hazardous (main engine, steering, generators, boiler, emergency generator and fire pump, bilge and ballast) with regular testing of standby equipment.
  • Integrated (§10.4): the Planned Maintenance System: calendar and running-hour jobs to maker procedures, job cards, redundancy preserved, records; class-approved PMS aligned with the CMS.
  • Condition-based: vibration and lube-oil analysis, thermography and performance trending so components are opened on condition, not only on the calendar.
  • Supporting controls: calibrated instruments, approved service suppliers, controlled critical spares, defects risk-assessed and closed out, everything recorded for ISM audits and PSC.
  • As Chief Engineer: inspect, report, correct and record; critical list and standby tests; condition monitoring; records ready for the DOC and SMC audits.
