How to sign up

Signing up is free and takes about two minutes: sign in with Google or LinkedIn, fill in a short profile, pass the security check, and an admin approves your account — usually within a day.

Step by step

  1. Open Create your free account (the Sign up button at the top of every page).
  2. Choose Google or LinkedIn. You sign in with that account; Marine One never sees your password.
  3. Complete your profile. Choose how you are joining:
    • Aspirant — planning to join the Merchant Navy. Your full name and date of birth.
    • Candidate — a seafarer preparing for a competency exam. Also your CDC number, current rank, exam, stage and the Mercantile Marine Department where you will sit it.
  4. Pass the security check at the bottom of the form and select Create my account.
  5. Wait for approval. An admin reviews every new account, usually within a day. Candidates' CDC numbers are checked by hand.
  6. Once approved, your forum account is created and you can read the forum free for 7 days. To keep reading and to post, choose Community Access.

Signing in again

Use Sign in with the same Google or LinkedIn account you signed up with. Your account page shows your profile, your plans and your saved career plan.

If something goes wrong

  • "Please complete the security check" — the check did not load or timed out. Reload the page and try again; turn off any extension that blocks scripts.
  • Waiting longer than a day — write to [email protected] from the email you signed up with.

Common questions

Does it cost anything to sign up?

No. The account is free. Community Access (₹1,000 for three years) and the preparation courses are optional and paid separately.

Why does my account need approval?

Every new account is reviewed by a person to keep the forum free of spam and recruiters nobody asked for. It usually takes less than a day.

Why do you ask for my CDC number?

Only if you sign up as a Candidate preparing for a competency exam. We check every CDC number by hand before giving access to exam material. Aspirants are not asked for one.

I signed in with LinkedIn and was asked for my email. Why?

LinkedIn does not always share a verified email address. The email you type is used to contact you; you will be asked to confirm it before you can post in the forum.

How do I get my career plan PDF?

Use the Route Finder. When you finish it, it asks you to sign in and then gives you the PDF. You can download it again from your account page.
